Avebury is located in the South West of England in the County of Wiltshire. It's approximately 24 miles (45 minutes) from Stonehenge and 52 miles (1 hour 30 minutes) from Glastonbury.

Yes, you are free to walk around and touch the stones at Avebury. There are also marked walking trails of differing lengths up to 5 miles long, which you can follow.
Yes it is totally free to enter Avebury and walk around the stones, no tickets are necessary. There is a charge if you wish to visit the Manor and gardens at Avebury.
Ideally you will need at least 2 hours at Avebury. However you can take as long as you want, especially on a summer day. It is a beautifully and wondrous place to enjoy, sitting having a picnic amongst the prehistoric stones, or wandering around the Village.
Take a little time as well to make a wish at the wishing tree.
